I enjoy hiking the scenic ravine trail at the far side of David Balfour Park. It feels like a wild and beautiful place, yet it’s right here in the middle of the city. The Yellow Creek flows through the lush wooded area called the Avoca Ravine, which connects to the Kay Gardner Beltline Trail. A perfect mini-excursion in Deer Park/Summerhill.
The David Balfour park, near Yonge and St. Clair, has reopened with updated facilities, kids playground and the lovely Rosehill Garden. The 20.5 hectare park sits atop the Rosehill Reservoir, which is the largest reservoir in Toronto, dating back to 1873. It’s a great place to explore.
