Michelin stars have been awarded in Canada for the first time, starting in Toronto. I always say we are lucky to have so many restaurants that offer world class dining experiences right here in the city – without ever stepping on a plane. In total, 74 restaurants were recognized by the prestigious Michelin Guide, with 13 awarded stars and 17 receiving “Bib Gourmands” for exceptional casual dining. It’s about time!
Congratulations to all of the winners, as well as all the amazing restaurants that have been working hard to make our city more special.
Just the other day, I had a lovely quiet supper with a client at 156 Cumberland. The food was superb, easily rivaling anything you would find in New York or London. This is one of the many local restaurants that are way too special to go unnoticed. My wife and I recently enjoyed the delicious flavours at Koh Lipe in Baldwin Village, named after the Thai island where the owner is from.
Here are a few of my favourites that got recognition from Michelin:
@osteriagiulia
“Focusing on Northern Italian cuisine and delicate coastal, Mediterranean flavour.”
134 Avenue Road
@156Cumberland
“Intimate neighbourhood spot serving Modern, Korean inspired dishes.”
156 Cumberland Street
@alobaryorkville
“Bistro serving creative, scratch-made food fusing European & Asian influences.”
162 Cumberland Street
@Kohlipeto
“Warm, unfussy option serving classic Thai standards.”
35 Baldwin Street
@bar_isabel
“Spanish-influenced, creative plates & craft beers in a cozy space with an old-world vibe.”
797 College Street
